The newsletter

Reed & Clay a newsletter from Eridean

Occasional notes on the tech that matters to you & your business.

Thousands of years ago, in the part of the world that gives Eridean its name, people figured out how to write things down. They pressed a cut reed into a tablet of wet, fresh clay — and suddenly a thought could outlast the person who had it. The first things they wrote weren't poetry. They were practical: who owed what, what was stored where, what a person needed to remember. Useful information, written down because it mattered.

That's the spirit of this newsletter.

Reed & Clay is where I write down the things I think are genuinely worth a small-business owner's time — what I'm seeing out in the field, an explanation of some bit of tech that's confusing people, the occasional "here's a thing you can check yourself, for free." No jargon. No hype. No ten-tips-to-CRUSH-your-quarter.

And here's my actual promise to you, because I know your inbox is already full:

  • I'll only send it when I have something genuinely worth saying. Occasional means occasional — probably monthly, sometimes less. I would rather stay quiet than waste your time.
  • It's not a sales pitch. If something I write happens to be the kind of thing I could help with, I'll say so plainly at the bottom and leave it there. The point is to be useful whether or not you ever hire me.
  • I will never clutter your inbox, sell your email, or make you regret signing up. One click unsubscribes you, no hard feelings — and you're welcome back any time.

If that sounds like the kind of thing you'd actually want to read, come along. If not, no worries at all — you clearly already know how to spot the good stuff.

— Randy, Eridean
